Chris Cornell's forthcoming solo album, titled "Scream", has caused controversy for ditching his hard rock roots in favor of a new pop/urban collaboration with Timbaland. A song from the album, called "Ground Zero", debuted last week on the premiere episode of the new series "Life On Mars", while Cornell has also appeared in commercials for Verizon Wireless also promoting the CD's arrival.
Cornell and Timbaland are scheduled to perform the entire album together at several concerts beginning on Friday (October 17) in Denver, finishing with a November 2 show in Cornell's hometown of Seattle.
The singer is also scheduled to make several meet-and-greet appearances at Verizon Wireless stores along the tour route.
Cornell's previous solo efforts are 1999's "Euphoria Morning" and last year's "Carry On". He quit AUDIOSLAVE early last year after making three studio albums. His previous group, SOUNDGARDEN, disbanded in 1997.
